The Digital Patient Infrastructure research focuses on establishing a framework for the Digital Patient (DP), an Open Computational Platform fostering collaboration and accelerating development of digital health and health equity technologies from clinical patient data and models. The DP will require not just one model, but a system of models, all cooperating to support simulations of specific and general health issues. This includes digital twins and other applications addressing the translation of biomedical discoveries to improve patient outcomes. The DP Infrastructure effort will be realized through the development of a DP Toolkit, which will be made available to support DP development efforts at ODU and beyond. The toolkit will accelerate advances in human healthcare innovation and bring currently unavailable biotechnology, workforce training, and commercialization innovations to the Commonwealth. This will result in measurable improvements in health workforce training.
